I've always loved a good soap opera/long running drama. Dokugan-ryu Masamune was the first Japanese drama I remember watching with my mom on one of the early cable channels.
My thing is that it doesn’t matter about culture differences … the human story is everywhere … love, lust, hate, admiration, wanting to do right by your family, all that stuff. So with that being said, anything can catch my eye ... but a story that has subtitles, well I can’t help to want to fall into a story. Admittedly from that first Japanese drama in 1987 I’ve been partial to Asian stories. As a matter of fact the actor that played the lead role in Dokugan-ryu Masamune aka "One Eyed Dragon", was Ken Watanabe, I’m sure you remember him from The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo JimaHere lately I’ve become interested in K-Dramas  ...  thanks to cable channels AZN Television (I’m so sad that AZN is now off the air) & Imagineasian TV.
Anyhoo I've watched this K -drama the Coffee Prince and I'm totally crushing on the actor Gong Yoo  he is so hot ... but even better he has good comedic timing and a sweetness behind his eyes.  He's doing his required army service right now. It amazing what a haircut will do for a person....   its ok  ... you can't erase those dimples ;)
  *sigh*
I was watching this entertainment report on Youtube and they were comparing Gong Yoo with Jun Ki Lee?! Huh?  I don’t get what the point of that was ... Sure Jun Ki is a cutie!  Loved him in Virgin Snow ... I like him cause he is the closest I've seen that looks like a character from a yaoi manga.

If you don't believe from the picture look at this drama: The King and the Clown

But to compare him to Gong Yoo is like comparing Zac Efron to Brad Pitt.

About 2 o'clock this morning, I finished this little tiara I was thinking to wear with my ITS dress ...

I had it stuck in my head for a while ... It's definitely delicate.  But I'm pleased about my first effort.

BTW : I had posted in egl, about this Mini Tophat.  In the desciption there was a reference to In Living Color Men on Film  I forgot how funny that was.

Dang girl where have you been?

March has been a koo koo kinda month ....

My Dad getting sick and having to go to the hospital twice ...

People at work not pulling their weight (but then getting transferred so buh bye!)

And how can we forget Jury Duty!!!  Thank god it was just a burglary case
Yeah he was all kinds of guilty ... silly man represented himself in court, it was a
downward spiral from there.

BUT NOW WE ARE IN APRIL !!!!

10 DAYS TILL MY TRIP - WOO HOO!!!!!

I got my hair done last week .... New hair!!  Please ignore the expression on my face.  I'm really digging the bi color thing.

On the way home I finished the cutest manga, I had won a copy when I went to NYAF.  I just started reading it yesterday ...

She had autographed the flyleaf too ... Kuromi love!   This book was so cute and informative about traveling to Japan and such.  She is a very talented artist.  She's [info]aimeekitty here on LJ.  She is very into Lolita, Cosplay and ball jointed dolls.  Oh here a pic of her and I at NYAF ...   She is a tall one for sure ... I don't know what she cosplaying tho

Just got home from having my hair colored ... love it as usual.  Pepper (my colorist) is one of my favorite people she is always happy to see you always finds something to praise (my self cut bangs in this instance) about to make you feel good.  Which is just good customer service ....

My other hairstylist Mr. Mack of Harlem, I love him too, he's older that my father and still out there making women look hot, I love hearing hearing his stories of "back in the day"

I'm still deciding if I'm gonna get a weave for my Japan trip (that would have to be a different hairdresser) ... even If I get just the most temporary extensions so I dont have to sweat about how I'm gonna style my hair.

Speaking of which (Japan-->Lolita clothes) ... I got my blouses from Annahouse *ahem* one second please .....

AARRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Ok I'm back ....

How can some thing be so right ... pretty little pearl buttons, very cute lace, precise pleats ....
and so wrong ... they are too short!  I've never had a blouse that stops right above my belly button.

I gave them my measurements and of course the blouse needs to be wider to accommodate the ta-tas, however couldn't look at the pattern and see that it would be too short ... damn.

Don't get me wrong it not as if they are totally unwearable, underneath a JSK or a vest, who is to know?  but just the blouse and skirt by themselves,  if I just raise my arms a little ... I don't even want to think about it.

My first order from F+F is coming soon, the day I was going to email them a "whats up" they sent the UPS tracking number .... we'll see

 Ok take two ....

Someone had posted a question on eglplus asking our opinions about this blouse, whether or not if she should get it.   If I remember correctly, she decided not to buy it.  However can I tell you, I absolutely fell in love with this item!  To me the only bugaboo is that silly badge in the front which can be removed!  I love the collar, I love the vertical lace, I love the black ribbon around the banded sleeves.  I feel I could even wear this to work.

Which leads me to mention that there was a post yesterday on egl, asking,"What does the phrase, Lifestyle Loli mean to you?"  The way the I feel the only way to be lifestyle is to dress in Lolita all the time.  However as far as your own personal behavior it should have nothing to do in the way you dress.  I try to live and abide by the Golden Rule "Treat others as you want to be treated"  It's a simple philosphy but it can make a huge diffrence in your mindset about things.  LOL , I'm not trying to preach but I like the thought of putting the positive energy out in the Universe!  I would hope no matter how I dress, how fat or thin I may be, that my soul would be same.

But to get back to the subject at hand, while was drooling about that F+F Blouse I had an epiphany that I've really always love the Lolita aesthetic ... the short puffy banded sleeves, pretty lace and embroidery.  It's the colors that have issues with, but that is another post.

This blouse I brought from Lane Bryant last summer ....

                                                       (Please ignore the wrinkles)

To me this blouse is more than half in the Lolita style.  In reevaluating how I would like to dress, not just for my trip, but in general.  I just want more pretty, not just in my clothes but in my life.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not even trying to say that I am going to dress in Loli all the time, however I'm not going to be buying stuff just to hang in my closet I'm going to wear them out and about more.  Even though I'm not even going try to deny, it is soooooo easy just to dress in jeans and sneakers all the time since you don't have to think about it.  But I'm gonna try to change this.

BTW I brought the F+F blouse about three o'clock this morning, I know I'm gonna have to wait till they come back from Spring Break, but it'll be so worth it! *squeal*

I'll think of the title later ...

Ohhh I messed up this post ... give me a min an I'll post  what i mean to say

It really starts here ...

  • Jan. 14th, 2008 at 9:27 PM

I decided for my upcoming Japan trip to mostly dress Lolita. I'm slowly starting to put outfits together ... I brought two pairs of shoes to match up with stuff, I guess I'm starting from the bottom up.

I had started ordering a bunch of items in late December from various places and as they start coming in I'll take pictures.  The first items that have come in are my new shoes from Anna House!  With my first dress I wore at the NYAF were these comfy suede Mary Janes that were not at all loli.  I thought I brought these in the right size but they are little small ... oh but sooooo cute. *hee hee*

Man these shoes have a mad stinky chemical smell!  Definitely needs to aired out!

Please disregard the bathmat I didn't  to mess up the bottom till I decided to keep em.  Didn't want to show the whole shoe if I wasn't dressed but here are my toes peeping ;)

Even though I can feel in the toe box they are a little small they are more comfortable than I thought would be.  Both of these came with the ankle straps but I don't think I'll use those ... wanna keep my legs as long as possible.

This is the pic of the shoes from the
web site.

Second Birthday Gathering ...

  • Dec. 30th, 2007 at 9:44 PM

last night with my friends!  I met up with Ant & Kim @ Niles across from MSG, in my opinion one of the best bars in NYC ... love the way they make drinks there.  Ant gave me the most gorgeous ... sparkly ring. Val showed up and then and a good time was held by all.  Then we went to Three of Cups for some damn good pizza even in my sloshed state it was sooo good.

My Birthday

  • Dec. 29th, 2007 at 2:15 AM

My birthday has been over for the last two hours or so.  Loverly day ... My sister took me to dinner (yum Pizzeria Uno) and we saw "Sweeny Todd" which was won-der-ful! Love, love Johnny Depp.  Who knew he could sing? And still look hot as a muderous barber.  The wild hair really suited him.   This movie is very much a musical, adapted from the Broadway playfrom the 80's.  Helen Bonham-Carter was great too.   I don't want to give away any spoilers ... other than to say this is one blood messy movie.  I'm also going out with my friends tonight (Saturday) .. which I know will be a wee bit rowdier usually caused by that demon liquor.

I'm going to Japan!!!

  • Dec. 25th, 2007 at 10:57 PM

Hee hee I'm goin to Japanin April 2008! I've always wanted to go, had a passport for years and just got my first stamp in 2006 (Work trip to the UK)

Doing that just made me want to go places I've bee thinking about . Have to admit I am going with a tour group :
http://www.popjapantravel.com/. I'm oficaliy going on the Fujoshi Paradise aka Boys love tour but I also go on the day trip to the Lolita stores.
This is the description for that day ...

"This is the big day. Cruise Shinjuku and other Tokyo neighborhoods for the greatest and latest Gothic & Lolita brands: Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Victorian Maiden, Angelic Pretty, h.NAOTO, and more you may never have even heard of! Plus you'll get a chance to meet real Gothic & Lolita designers and industry insiders, and take part in two unforgettable dining experiences: the Christon Cafe, a stunning local Gothic & Lolita haunt with a classical European interior and red velvet as far as the eye can see, and dinner at the Lolita favorite Alice in Wonderland Restaurant in Ginza."

This is the most exciting thing I've done so far (Don't worry I know it'll be more excitedness) I love that I'll have all this time to plan.  I'm even thinking to have a couple of Lolita oufits made by : http://www.inthestarlight.com/.  I'll talk about that later.

So basicaly I'll be venting my excitedness/craziness here ... enjoy!  ;)

BTW : Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!
